Robbie releases "Rudebox"
Robbie Williams has announced details of a brand new single, entitled "Rudebox".
The long-rumoured track is taken from the pop star's currently untitled new album and is scheduled for release in September.
The single is expected to be released to radio next week and will be followed by the LP, which includes new and old tracks and collaborations with Pet Shop Boys, William Orbit and Mark Ronson.
"Rudebox" was apparently recorded with "fellow Stoke On Trent natives / compadres Soul Mekanik aka Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews", according to a statement released today.
It is based on a sample from the classic Sly & Robbie track "Boops (Here To Go)" and apparently sounds like Robbie on a "New York street corner in 1983".
Speaking about the track in today's statement, Robbie Williams commented: "'Rudebox' is loads of different things.
"Sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it's a really nasty girl dancing scantily clad, or sometimes it's a giant Soundsystem. Sometimes it's actually just a box that tells you to f*ck off! too"
"They might say its "dance" or it's "electro" but it's just what I like! It started off as a busman's holiday this time around, but it's become something on which I've found myself. I was just doing my YTS up till now," said Robbie.
"Rudebox" is scheduled for release on September 4.
