Bid for Robbie 's Smart Crossblade

Robbie Williams has put his Smart Crossblade car up for sale on eBay.

The roofless motor even comes with fag burns in the passenger seat crafted by the man himself.

The info posted on the site says: “There are some very small marks on the passenger seat that are cigarette burns. Apart from that the car is in first-rate condition.”

The two-seater has a 600cc turbo- charged engine that can hit 86mph. It has attracted a top bid of £4,100. The Robster has also thrown in a pair of Smart sunnies for the lucky buyer.

If you fancy getting the wheels the auction closes in nine days.

Robbie Williams: the first to fly Virgin Galactic?

Rocket mogul: Billionaire Brit Sir Richard Branson has unveiled the first Virgin "spaceship," a six-passenger shuttle designed for suborbital space flight. Tickets are $190,000, there's no first class, and don't even think about cocktail service.

So, who gets to go first? According to BornRich, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, of course: "Apparently, the couple has has already paid £115,000 each to ensure they have a seat on the jet. The couple will be accompanied by the superstar Robbie Williams and William Shatner."

Robbie Williams' 'Lovelight’ video has exclusive first screening on ITV

EMI Records, IE Management & ITV have confirmed that the video for the new Robbie Williams single ‘Lovelight’ will receive an exclusive first screening on October 6th at 23:00 on ITV1 and later that night on ITV2.

For the first time on ITV, the network will broadcast the video as a stand alone five minute programme with further coverage on itv.com.

Guy Freeman, Controller of Music and Events says: “Robbie was a big hit with our viewers earlier in the year as he’s one of those rare performers who connects with an incredibly broad range of fans. As the new video has extremely high production values and is a great track, it only seems appropriate to offer viewers the chance to see it first on ITV.”

EMI Records Director of media Rebecca Coates says; “This is the first time that EMI Records/IE Management have had the chance to work with ITV on the exclusive broadcast of a stand alone video programme of any kind. The incredible new video for ' Lovelight ' by one of the UK's most popular artists, Robbie Williams is the perfect way to start things. ITV have given us a fantastic cross platform opportunity to deliver one of our key artists direct to his core audience and I hope that this is a programme strand that they can build on in the future.”

The spectacular and iconic new video was shot recently whilst in Vienna during a break from touring by director Jake Nava, whose previous video credits include Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’, Kelis’ ‘Milkshake’ and Usher’s ‘Burn’ amongst others

‘Lovelight’ is released on November 13th on Chrysalis/EMI Records, and is the second single to be taken from his highly anticipated and forthcoming ‘Rudebox’ album which precedes the single on October 23rd.

‘Lovelight,’ recorded with NYC based uber-producer Mark Ronson earlier this year is a spectacular cover of Lewis Taylor’s criminally unknown soul-anthem. Together they have taken it from its warm soul roots, and transformed it into a building euphoric disco anthem featuring a full-on falsetto vocal performance that ranks amongst one of his most dynamic and definitive singles to date.

Robbie Williams has just completed the monumental European leg of his record breaking ‘Close Encounters’ World tour, culminating in a massive 5 nights at Milton Keynes Bowl and playing to over 2.5 million people along the way.

Kerry admits crush on Robbie

Kerry Katona has admitted to having a crush on Robbie Williams.

The ex-Atomic Kitten star revealed that she does not like the star's music, but would happily welcome him into her life.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "Scientists say playing a Robbie Williams album while having sex helps people lose their inhibitions - I don't need help in that department. If I had Robbie Williams in the bedroom that would be a different matter. I wouldn't have him singing though, I would get him to entertain me in the only way he knows how."

Williams is not the only man in Katona's sights however, as the former Atomic Kitten member revealed: "I always thought 'The Hoff' (David Hasselhoff) was quite fit and even now he is pretty hot. He's tall, dark and handsome and looks good in a pair of swimming trunks - and not a lot of blokes can do that!"

Gangsta Rapper wants to thump me, says Robbie

Robbie Williams has told friend he believes a top gangsta rapper wants to beat him up.

According to the Mirror, the peculiar claim arose during a feud the 32-year-old singer has been having with Rod Stewart's stepson Ashley Hamilton over ownership of a song.

Stressed-out Robbie appeared to have lost the plot entirely when he told mates that one of singer/songwriter Ashley's associates had threatened to "set 50 Cent" on him.

The dispute centres on Ashley's claims that the pair worked together on the track She's Madonna on the singer's new album, Rudebox.

Ashley - whose mum Alana was Rod's first wife - alleges that Robbie eventually took the track to the Pet Shop Boys to finish and he was left without any credit or money.

The Mirror says a source close to Ashley said: "Robbie's behaviour was erratic to say the least. He was rambling and incoherent. The conversations just weren't going anywhere. He was outraged that Ashley had spoken publicly about this. He seemed to be losing the plot."

Ashley's spokesman said: "I'm aware of the calls but don't have any comment to make."

Rob's people said: "No comment."

Robbie Defends Rudebox

The singer’s rap efforts weren’t appreciated by everyone, but he doesn’t give a (back) flip…

Robbie Williams has admitted to MTV that 'Rudebox' is his favourite of his own tunes, despite many people being less than kind about it.

“It has a very special place in my heart,” he said. “I think out of any Robbie Williams song I’ve written, I’ve listened to 'Rudebox' the most. I’ve played it to death; it’s almost worn out my computer.”

Talking about the mixed reaction from fans to the track, he went on, “It’s confused me. Lots of people have said, ‘We don’t like it, we don’t get it’, but to me it’s really strong – it’s more of a single than 'Trippin’' was. I personally love it.”

But it’s not just Rudebox Robbie’s been blasting from his stereo – he’s also been blaring out a certain JT tune.

“I downloaded Justin’s song ‘SexyBack’ and play it before I get on stage in the evenings on this tour,” he ‘fessed.

“I do see similarities (with Rudebox) – it’s very funky and of a dance nature. I like Justin.”

Aw…

Robbie drops free Dublin Concert

Pop star Robbie Williams is facing criticism after pulling out of a free concert in Dublin, Ireland despite promising to return after his chaotic concert in June (06).

The hitmaker was left red-faced at the summer show when he attempted to make a spectacular entrance suspended from a gondola-like contraption over the stage - only for the mechanics to become stuck, leaving him dangling before he was rescued by technicians. Williams admitted the show was a fiasco, and subsequently vowed to the 80,000 fans he would play a gig for them for free by the end of 2006 to make up for it.

But he has since told promoters in the Irish capital he will not be fulfilling his promise after all. Williams recently ditched the entire Asian leg of his tour, scheduled for later this year (06), because he is reportedly exhausted after overdoing his onstage capers.

A spokesman for the star says honouring the dates would simply be "asking too much".

Robbie determined to continue tour

Doctors may have given British singer Robbie Williams strict orders to rest, but he's already planning to hit the road.

Williams, who recently admitted that he was suffering from depression, has reportedly told pals that he is "okay", and that after a two-week pit stop, he would be getting ready to perform at his South American tour.

"I'm okay. I'm exhausted and haven't been home for ten months because of my tour and promoting my album. It's all got too much for me and I have been told to rest for two weeks. My South American tour is coming up and I want to be ready for that," the News of the World quoted him, as telling pals.

Williams' six day long South American tour takes place next month in October, a time when his new album RudeBox is also released.

A pal revealed that though Williams was feeling "fragile", he was still determined to go through with the tour.

"He's not the first or the last person to go through this and is feeling fragile. But he wants to finish the tour and when he wants to do something he makes it happen," the friend said.

Williams was forced to cancel the Asian leg of his "Close Encounters" world tour due to "stress and exhaustion", but is determined not to let the same happen to his South American tour.

Robbie's £10m world tour on brink of disintegration

Holed up amid the bucolic splendour of a lavish country house hotel early this week, Robbie Williams was in an unutterably bad temper.

Pacing the floor of his suite as his retinue of advisers and hangers-on sat heads bowed in embarrassed silence, the singer launched into a four-letter-word-strewn stream of consciousness, complaining about everything from his constant insomnia to how he feels his fans don't appreciate him enough.

It was a somewhat erratic performance and one that - sadly for the talented Williams - has become an all too regular occurrence in recent weeks.

Five months into a gruelling world tour (this week he finished the UK leg after playing to more than half a million British fans) and his fragile health is of grave concern to those around him. Not least because it is threatening to cost his record company - and the star - a fortune.

This week, his management team announced that Robbie's £10 million tour of the Far East, planned for November, is being cancelled as they finally confirmed rumours that the star is exhausted and stressed.

On Tuesday, his understandably jittery handlers put him on a flight back to his home in Los Angeles for a two-week break, in the hope that he will recuperate in time to resume the tour in South America next month.

Some within his entourage are openly speculating that he won't come back.

Robbie battles depression

ROBBIE Williams is being treated for depression, the Daily Mirror can reveal.

The condition - which the troubled star, 32, has battled before - may help explain why he suddenly axed the Asian leg of his world tour this month.

Although the official reason given was that he had "stress and exhaustion", insiders say he has sunk to a new low.

A source close to him revealed: "He's suffered from depression before but feels things are getting worse and the tour was too much."

Robbie is being treated by Dr Mark Collins, a top expert at the Priory clinic in South West London.

The star has even flown him to California, where he lives, for sessions.

The source added: "He's determined to get the very best treatment."

The news comes as he has struggled in the charts and been hit by legal disputes. Comeback single Rudebox flopped and ex-manager Nigel Martin-Smith is threatening to sue over a track on his new album in which he is called an "evil man".

Robbie has talked openly about depression, which he first admitted battling in 2002. In a BBC documentary this month he told Stephen Fry: "I could get up in front of 35,000 or 40,000 people and go, 'Look at me, I'm ace!'

"Then as soon as I got off stage I'd get in the tour coach and go back to my bedroom and pull the duvet over my eyes."

Snap happy with Robbie

When Robbie Williams cancelled the Asian leg of his world tour last week due to exhaustion those outside his inner circle started to spin the wheel of speculation.

But the best way to cut through the rumour to the truth is to ask someone who knows him.

Who better than Karen McBride, the Manchester-based photographer hired to document the Robbie tour for a special 'on the road' book due to be released next year?

Karen has covered all the British dates and is likely to follow the Robster as he recovers.

She said: “I am knackered doing this tour and what I do is nowhere near the level Robbie achieves. God knows how shattered he must be with all the effort he puts in. I totally sympathise with him.”

Karen is well-known on the Manchester music circuit for her black and white images of up and coming rock bands but still can't quite believe her luck after being appointed official photographer for the former Take That star.

She said: “I was approached by a PR company in London working for Robbie in May. They said Robbie and his management had seen my black and white live pictures and really liked them. They asked me if I would come and do some of the gigs on his current tour.

“Of course, I said I would. But they have been really impressed with what the have seen of the pictures I have taken on the tour and we are now talking about making it a permanent arrangement.”

Karen, 43, has been at all of Robbie's UK dates on the current tour and her photos will form the backbone of a new book being planned.

She says: “I really like Robbie. He is very down to earth and hard-working which is why his fans love him so much. He is so easy to get on with and very relaxed with himself and around others. It's a real family atmosphere being on the road with him.

“He is a real joker too. When we were in Amsterdam recently one of the band had a birthday and Robbie put his face in his birthday cake while he was on stage.

“It is amazing getting this opportunity,” she tells me. “I have been taking photos for about 20 years and started by doing shots of my brother's band years ago. Then I took it up as a hobby but was doing so much work that after a while I decided to take it on professionally.”
“I have been doing it for a living now for about eight or so years.”

Karen was born in Rochdale, brought up in Salford but now lives in Sale. And the only thing she misses about home while being on the road with Robbie is her partner and her eight cats!

Tara looks after 'exhausted' Robbie

It seems the pop prince Robbie Williams was back in the arms of old flame Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, for one night only.

The 32-year-old singer recently cancelled the Asian leg of his world tour, due to "exhaustion" and took the opportunity to pop in on Tara's West London pad.

Tara, 34, told The Daily Mirror: "Yes we did meet last week. Robbie came to my flat for some tea."

She went on: "He was so exhausted. He has been doing so many tours it's taken it out of him."

The socialite, who recently had surgery on her caved-in nose, enjoyed a 10-day love-in with the singer in May and even reveals she had a starring part on his single, Rudebox.

"I love the album, especially as I'm on it," she said. "I say, 'hello, operator' on the single. I don't know if that has been cut out."

Robbie, 32, is also under pressure after the single failed to make No 1, with both Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake bagging higher slots in the charts.

Tara insists Robbie remains positive: "Robbie has decided not to read what anyone writes about Rudebox.

"He doesn't let the criticism get to him."

Robbie tops " fantasy kiss list'

Robbie Williams and Jessica Alba are top of a poll of Britain's top fantasy snogs.

The pair were listed alongside Hollywood sex symbols Angelina Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt in a survey of stars Britons would most like to pucker up to.

Pollsters YouGov found British men also fantasised about kissing Desperate Housewives bombshell Eva Longoria and England Footballer, Wayne Rooney's fiancée Coleen McLoughlin and Kelly Brook.

Meanwhile British women dream of snogging chart-topper Robbie Williams, footballer Frank Lampard and James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

The findings were part of a kissing survey commissioned for toothpaste maker Colgate to mark its Oral Health Month.

The poll found that 40% of Britons cited a good pair of eyes as attracting them to a potential kissing partner.

Meanwhile 25% opted for those with a nice smile or teeth, ahead of a good dress sense (10%) and nice hair (5%).

YouGov polled 2,320 adults in the UK online between August 22 and 24.

The top five female celebrities people in the UK would most like to kiss were: Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria, Kelly Brook and Coleen McLoughlin.

The top five men were: Robbie Williams, Brad Pitt, Frank Lampard, Daniel Craig and Prince Harry.

Rod Stewart: 'I Have No Rivals'

Veteran rocker Rod Stewart insists he stands head and shoulders above today's crop of singers.

The Maggie May rocker admits Robbie Williams is a much bigger star than him in his native Uk, but the Angels singer has never been a big hit in the US.

He says, "I don't feel challenged by anyone at all. I mean Robbie Williams is a much bigger act than I am.

Shakira and Robbie to hook up

Robbie Williams could be set to record a duet with Shakira, if his former songwriting partner gets his way.

Guy Chambers masterminded several of Robbie's biggest hits, including Angles and Rock DJ, but the pair parted ways after a clash over the singer's multi-million pound recording deal with EMI.

However, Guy insists he is now ready to call a truce on the pair's feud and pen another hit for Robbie if he agrees to collaborate with Shakira.

Guy is convinced a duet between the pair could be the thing that launches Robbie's career in the US, where the Latin beauty is a huge star.

He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He should have always done that. It would be the perfect match and I would like to write the tune for it. It would be a worldwide hit and would break Robbie in America."

Guy has also revealed that one of the main reasons the pair disbanded their hugely successful partnership was because Robbie wanted to move to Los Angeles.

He added: "One of the main reasons our partnership ended was because he moved to Los Angeles.

"If I'd also moved out there we may have continued working together. But that idea wasn't really going to be possible."

Australia, this is your last chance to see Robbie

It had looked as though just less than half a million eager Australians would get to see Robbie perform live in Australia this year, but promoter Chugg Entertainment announced today that more seats to this sold out concerts would be released to the general public.

If you missed the chance to buy one of the 450,000 odd tickets that were released for Australian shows in June this year all is not lost!

New tickets for the Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide shows will go on sale on Wednesday 4th of October, followed by the Melbourne and Perth shows on sale on Thursday 5th October.

Michael Chugg and his production team recently flew to Cologne, Germany to watch Robbie's Close Encounters show live. When the Australian production experts met with Robbie's team and reviewed the layout and sight lines of the Australian Stadiums, they confirmed that they could offer more tickets to die hard Robbie Williams fans. These will be tickets available to either side of the stage and in other areas of the venue.

U2, Abba, Madonna, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones all come to mind when we think of huge names in music with massive sell out concerts but none have had a tour this successful.

The Robbie Williams Close Encounters Tour is a phenomenon taking the world by storm and in November, it will reach Australia's shores playing to 9 stadiums across every major city with between 50,000 and 60,000 people at every show.

Australians bought up every ticket within hours of them being offered and more than 6 months before the concert was scheduled to play. There is no doubt in the mind of promoter Michael Chugg that this is the biggest show Australia has ever seen.

Logistical statistics back up this claim again. 3 years of planning, 360 tonnes of equipment, more than 200 crew and a fleet of trucks and buses taking almost a week to construct the stage with 2 giant scorpion tails measuring 66 meters by 26 meters, 8 giant tusks made from 6,800 LED blocks and 125 meters of video wall.

The show, described as "an unearthly fusion of the supernatural with enough modern technology to power an early lunar landing" is guaranteed to leave you satisfied.

Once this final release of tickets has been sold out there will be no more tickets released and no new shows scheduled. Australia, this is your last chance to see Robbie Williams live in concert don't miss out!

Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide on sale 9am, Wednesday 4th October: Tickets through Ticketek or 132 849.

Melbourne and Perth on sale 9am, Thursday 5th October: Tickets through Ticketmaster or 136 100.

Williams Slates Old Manager On Stage

British pop star Robbie Williams has stepped up his war with former manager Nigel Martin-Smith by slamming him from the stage during a concert.

The singer is currently involved in a feud with his ex Take That boss over a song on his new album, which lawyers believe could be libellous.
In outspoken track THE 90s, Williams reveals he fantasised about hurting the pop mogul during his time with the chart-topping boy band.
Martin-Smith has demanded the song be removed from William's new album Rudebox.

But defiant Williams sang the words in front of 65,000 fans at the Milton Keynes Bowl in England on Thursday.

Robbie Said He Loved Me.. Then Bedded 20 Groupies

A SEXY Slovak has revealed how Robbie Williams spent three months declaring his love for her - while bedding at least TWENTY groupies.

Brunette beauty Michaela Dubekova said the superstar made her feel so special during their affair that she was even planning to move into his LA mansion.

"It wasn't just sex," she told The People. "Robbie and I made LOVE. We would look into each other's eyes and sometimes take it really slow, just holding on to each other and rocking gently."

But Michaela, 26, got so tired of the Robster cheating on her with strings of fans that she did what few women could bring themselves to do - and DUMPED him.

She told The People: "I couldn't handle the fact that he continued to see all these other girls. He'd say, 'You know I love you'. But that wasn't good enough for me."

Robbie Cancels Shows - The Official Announcement

Robbie will take a break before he plays in South America

Close Encounters 2006 has been the biggest tour of 2006 and playing to sell-out audiences for over 3 months means that Robbie needs to take a well-earned break before embarking on his ground-breaking tour of South America.

It is with great regret, therefore, that Robbie feels he cannot play his dates in South East Asia and India.

A spokesperson for Robbie Williams said:

"Despite the unprecedented success of the Close Encounters Tour which has seen Robbie perform to sell-out stadiums across Europe to over 2.5 million people, it has clearly been an exhaustive tour to undertake. Delighted to be back in the UK, Robbie is midway through 5 nights at The Milton Keynes Bowl, he is then able to take a two week break before fulfilling his 6 shows in South America. Following these dates it was decided that he needed to take a substantial break to recover before undertaking any further work.

Robbie Bowls them over - a Concert Review from Milton Keynes

Robbie Williams had an ironic greeting for the 65,000 fans at the first of five nights at Milton Keynes Bowl: "Welcome to the new Wembley!"

He was originally supposed to play the rebuilt stadium, and like Sir Mick Jagger - who quipped about Wembley being just about ready for Arctic Monkeys' farewell tour - the delays prompted a gag from Robbie: "It will be ready for Theo Walcott's testimonial though."

Of course, Robbie Williams will always have something to say. But this was a big-mouthed performance, even for him.

After a burst of the Close Encounters music, some flashing lights and fireworks, Robbie appeared on the ego ramp jutting out from the futuristicthemed stage. And he stayed there for much of the evening, soaking up the fans' love.

Their screams punctuated the opening-tune Radio - still a great, quirky pop song, even with Robbie swearing throughout - and continued for the playful Rock DJ. But despite the big budget production and receptive audience, Robbie didn't always seem to have the necessary attention span for his own songs.

His singing was wayward - a talented band and backing singers kept the performance on track - and as he larked around he seemed to live up to his recent description of himself as an "end-of-the-pier entertainer". On a fine evening, he was also curiously sweaty from the start and later said he was feeling "like s**t".

But spurred on by the crowd, Robbie's excitement never wavered and it made for a flawed but captivating performance.

The second half of the show was more convincing too, after a pretty awful guest spot from his friend Jonathan Wilkes on the swing standard Me And My Shadow (complete with tedious banter).

However, his lawyers may be wishing he hadn't shared his latest dispute with former Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith with thousands of fans, who could easily have recorded it on mobile phones to share on the web.

EMI has removed a track called The 90s from promotional copies of his new album as Martin-Smith has threatened legal action. But he performed some of it anyway, singing about an "evil man" and much worse. "I don't know why he's upset," Robbie said mockingly.

He also joked about Take That trying to get him on tour when he'd sold three million tickets for his summer dates. But he dedicated a rousing version of their song Back For Good to them and continued impressively with the underrated ballad Advertising Space.

By this point, there was a powerful bond with the audience and the encore was genuinely memorable. Robbie appeared high above the stage, clutching a double cone with his face smeared with ice cream, and descended on a small plat form to join his band for a riotous Let Me Entertain You.

Changed into a hoodie, he also played his new single Rudebox, an amusing take on hip hop which was, perhaps surprisingly, one of the stand- out moments. But he finished with Angels, of course, and Kids - and then, still going strong after 90 minutes, ran around punching the air in triumph.

Elton John advises Robbie to let bygones be bygones

Legendary singer Sir Elton John has advised British pop star Robbie Williams to let bygones be bygones, and not adopt a revengeful attitude for enemies from the past.

The 'Rocket Man' star, who has reportedly ended his public feud with singer George Michael, has instead urged Angels singer Williams to move ahead in life, and concentrate on the amazing success he's had as a solo artist.

Williams is currently involved in a feud with former Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith over a song on his new album, which lawyers believe could be libellous.

In an outspoken track, 'The Nineties', Williams says how he has fantasised about gouging the pop mogul's eyes out during his time with the chart-topping boy band.

But John has asked him to get over his feud with Martin-Smith because it will end up destroying him.

"I wish he would please just let it all go. All it is doing is burning a hole inside of him, eating him up, making him angry and miserable. He should give himself a pat on the back and be proud of what he's achieved. He's proved himself - he doesn't have to do it any more," Contactmusic quoted John, as saying.

"He should just let the other s**t go, and if he can't, then he needs to see someone and talk about it. It's one of the things I learned from getting sober - to just let the past go," he added.

Robbie Williams cancels Asian gigs

BRITISH pop star Robbie Williams has canceled all four concerts in Asia for his Close Encounters World Tour, including his Shanghai gig on November 4.

In Good Company, Williams' management firm, said in a statement that the singer had decided not to play Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore because "it became clear that the stress and exhaustion of the Asian tour coming shortly after the end of the European and South American dates would seriously impact his health."

"Throughout the summer Robbie Williams has performed in more than 40 shows around the world to more than 3 million people," the company said.

The statement was sent to China West Entertainment, one of the Shanghai concert's organizers, yesterday evening. The company refused to say how much it had invested in the concert.

Tickets for the Shanghai concert were supposed to officially go on sale yesterday. Zhou Yucheng from Shanghai Oriental Pearl Live Nation Entertainment and Sports Co Ltd, another organizer of the concert, said they hadn't taken any money for tickets.

Tickets for Williams' show in Hong Kong on November 10 have already been sold out.

New Robbie Track Faces Chop

Robbie Williams’ former manager Nigel Martin Smith has threatened the singer with court action unless he axes a song about him from his new album.

The track in question is called 'The 90s' and is said to contain “serious allegations” about Take That guru Smith, reports The Sun.

Unless Robbie and his peeps find a way around the problem the tune will have to be deleted from longplayer 'Rudebox'which could delay its October 23 release.

Robbie’s legal team are dealing with the issue at the mo but have agreed to stop the tune being distributed until the matter is resolved.

Mr Williams has never made any secret of the fact he can’t stand his old Take That boss and their feud has been rumbling since he first went solo.

Showman Robbie wows 90,000 fans

A SHOWER of fireworks and 90,000 screaming fans greeted Robbie Williams as he took to the stage at Roundhay Park for the first of his two sell-out concerts last night.

The superstar, who was launched onto the stage through a hidden trapdoor, held back tears during his opening song, Radio, telling the crowds that he'd "come home".

Many had camped overnight at Roundhay Park to guarantee a good place and Robbie, who is performing another show in the park tonight, didn't disappoint.

From Radio, he launched into a string of crowd-stomping favourites, including Rock DJ, Millennium and Feel, before paying tribute to his former Take That bandmates with a version of one of their biggest hits, Back for Good.

Introducing the song, he told the crowds that he had been invited on the band's recent comeback tour, saying: "They asked me to do it and for a minute, it pulled on my heartstrings.

"But then I realised I'd sold three million tickets for my own tour. What can you do?"

Having heard that 11 schools in Leeds had to close because of the concert, as reported in Thursday's YEP, the cheeky star also told fans: "How great am I? That never happened when I was at school.
"Michael Jackson never came to Stoke-on-Trent."

Robbie's best friend, singer and TV personality Jonathan Wilkes, joined him on stage for a performance of Me and My Shadow, followed by impromptu versions of Lulu's Shout and the Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive.
Robbie also performed new single Rudebox, which has been panned by critics, and begged fans to go out and buy it.

However, the track received a mixed reaction from the audience, unlike the classic hits Kids, Angels and Let Me Entertain You, which saw Robbie descend onto the stage from a metal basket hanging from the ceiling.

Few incidents of trouble were reported from the concert but chaos ensued afterwards as fans tried to leave Roundhay Park.
Thousands had to queue for buses for several hours but many, including Kerry Smith, 27, from Horsforth, were still buzzing from seeing their hero in action.

Kerry, who watched the show from the Gold Circle, said: "Robbie was brilliant and I swear at one point I caught his eye – at least, that's what I'm going to tell people.

"Leeds probably won't see anything like this again, not for ages anyway.
"Buying a ticket was the best thing I've ever done."

Robbie plans new swing album

After the disappointment of his latest electro-pop effort, Robbie Williams is reportedly writing a new swing album.

The cheeky pop star - whose new single Rudebox received a poor reception from critics and fans - has decided to go back to what he does best, according to reports.

Robbie is said to be secretly recording a follow-up to his 2001 hit album Swing When You're Winning - which featured covers such as Beyond The Sea and Mack The Knife and shot straight to No 1 in the charts.

"Obviously he hopes people will take Rudebox to their hearts," an insider said.

"But he's canny enough to realise that providing people with the Robbie material they've come to love and buy in their millions is an equally important career move."

His new album, also called Rudebox, is due to be released on October 23 - but critics are unsure about the ex-Take That star's change of musical direction.

Dream drug for Robbie

Robbie Williams says his first addiction was to fantasy.

The pop prince, 32 — who has spoken openly about his battle with booze and drugs — said: “Fantasy was definitely my first drug of choice.

“Fantasising about being an actor, being a singer, going to the moon, or whatever.

“I don't know if that was to just escape depression.”

Robbie, who says he has not taken booze in a year, makes his confession to Stephen Fry on BBC2’s The Secret Life Of The Manic Depressive, to be shown on September 18.

Robbie to play in Shanghai

Pop star Robbie Williams will play his first concert in China later this year, joining the list of British music stars to have performed in the world's most populous country, state media have said.

Williams, probably best known for his hit "Angels," will take to the stage in China's economic hub of Shanghai on November 4, Xinhua news agency said Friday.

Tickets for his show at the 35,000-seat Shanghai Hongkou football stadium are due to go on sale on September 14, with prices ranging from 180 to 1,580 yuan (22 to 193 dollars).

After Shanghai, the heartthrob crooner is to head to Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore as part of his Close Encounters World Tour.

Williams is not particularly well-known in China and one music critic quoted by Xinhua said he would likely be playing to some of the 100,000 foreigners that live in China's biggest city.

The Rolling Stones became the biggest Western rock act to hit China when they performed in Shanghai in April to a sold-out audience of mostly foreigners.

Elton John performed in Shanghai in 2004, and Deep Purple played in Beijing in 2003.

Robbie's fans lose concert seats

HUNDREDS of Robbie Williams fans have been left high and dry after a ticket firm went bust.

They paid about £100 for concert seats around the UK. But their tickets didn’t arrive — and the firm’s phonelines and websites have closed.

David Shelton, 35, of Pontefract, West Yorks, paid £200 to take his wife to tonight’s Roundhay Park, Leeds, gig. He said: “We’re devastated.”

The firm, Harley Street Ticket Brokers, has abandoned its London offices. Its director is a Philip Cooper, with a Doris Cooper as secretary.

Doris insisted: “I’ve been left in the lurch. Ask Philip Cooper — I don’t know where he is.”

Trading standards officers are investigating. A spokeswoman for Robbie said the firm had nothing to do with him.

Ex-manager to sue Robbie?

Pop star Robbie Williams is reportedly facing legal action from former Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith after he launched a terrifying attack on the mogul in new track THe Nineties.

The outspoken singer's shocking song, which features on his upcoming album Rudebox, details how he has fantasised about gouging the pop mogul's eyes out, sniping, "Either you're a thief or you're s**t, which one will you admit to? Such an evil man, I used to fantasise about taking a Stanley knife and playing around with your eyes."

Williams, who rocketed to fame with the boy band before going solo, claims Martin-Smith forced him to change his name, lose weight and even refused to pay the group for a successful European tour.

But after years of being slammed by the Angels singer, Martin-Smith has snapped, and has reportedly hired top libel and defamation lawyer QC Andrew Caldecott to take care of matters.

An unnamed music executive tells The Daily Mirror, "Robbie has called into question Nigel's honesty and ability as a manager when it's well-known that without him he wouldn't have a career in the first place. This has got to stop."

A source close to Martin-Smith adds, "He has always kept a dignified silence despite all of Robbie's remarks but he has overstepped the mark this time and Nigel is upset and angry."

School's out for Robbie concert

A Robbie Williams' concert has sparked anger among parents as a series of schools close to the venue have announced they are to send children home for the day.

Headteachers at 11 Leeds schools and learning centres have decided to shut for all or part of tomorrow as 90,000 fans of the chart-topping former Take That star head for the city's Roundhay Park.

The local education authority said the decision was taken to ensure children's safety in the face of the expected huge crowds and heavy traffic.

But some parents have claimed their children's education has been sacrificed for a pop concert.

Robbie's latest heartbreak

British singer Robbie Williams has been left heartbroken again - this time by an American woman who dated him despite already having a boyfriend.

The singer, who has had relationships with Rachel Hunter and All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, has been notoriously unlucky with romance and insists he's never been in love.

Williams was left in a state of shock when he discovered his latest lady - who he met through friends - was prepared to enjoy an intimate date at a Los Angeles mansion, even though she was already taken.

He says, "She said she was trying to do the right thing by me! What was she doing coming over to my house? "I was p**sed off. I liked her and I expected more from her - and women in general. I'm always surprised when I find one not telling the truth."

Robbie: 'I constantly disappoint people'

British pop hunk Robbie Williams has turned his back on socialising because he always disappoints fans he meets. The singer used to enjoy visits to bars and clubs, but pressure from fans wanting to meet him forces him to stay at home.

He says, "Clubs and bars fall apart when I'm in them. Men hate the presence of my security team. People want to speak to me and, after a few knock-backs, things become nasty."

"I've refused permission for them to approach me, so they think I'm a w**ker. This happens everywhere I go, so I go out as little as possible. I've realised that when I'm in public, I'm constantly disappointing people."

Robbie's Rudebox a Flop?

Despite his promise to "blaze a trail on dancefloors across the world" and a high-profile ad campaign - it seems that Robbie Williams' new single Rudebox has failed to impress, say reports.

Sales of the electro-funk track have fallen well behind those of rivals Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, with only 7,000 copies being bought by fans.

One high-ranking music exec told the Daily Mirror: "Fundamentally Robbie's new sound is a turn-off.

"He thought he could do a Madonna - change his style and stay on top. But I'm afraid it has backfired. Rudebox is something you love or hate and, sadly for him, most people seem to hate it.
"These will definitely be nervous times for him and his people."

Radio 1's Chris Moyles added his thoughts. He told the paper: "I think it's very odd. I so wish he would get back with his old songwriter, Guy Chambers. I miss those well-crafted tunes."

Chris's colleague Edith Bowman commented: "I was really disappointed with Robbie's last album. Although it's nice to see him challenge himself, I'm not a big fan of the single."

The 32-year-old Stoke popstar hasn't had a number one single for almost two years - his last single Sin, Sin, Sin limped in at number 22.

Robbie Williams Not To Appear On The X-Factor

What is it people say?... Don’t believe everything the papers tell you? We were all gobsmacked to read in numerous papers that Robbie would be coaching the 16-25’s (even us at Entertainmentwise!).

An insider told the Mirror: “Simon said he wanted this series to be the biggest and best yet. This is a massive coup.”

Well it looks like Simon hasn't got Robbie - unless it’s by video conference! WE CAN REVEAL EXCLUSIVELY THAT ROBBIE WILL NOT BE MENTORING THE UNDER 25s! I HAVE RECEIVED A PERSONAL STATEMENT TODAY FROM ROBBIE’S PR – SO WE KNOW! (and now so do you!)

It states ‘Robbie will not be participating in the X-Factor. He will be on his world tour’.

Here at Entertainmentwise.com if there’s something on the grapevine we like to squeeze it and see how much juice comes out! – THIS ONE WAS DRY GUYS! I am still fishing to find out who these celebrity trainers may be… as soon as I know – you will.

With regard to the judges, Simon Cowell will be mentoring the 16-25s, Louis Walsh is lumbered with the over 25’s while Sharon will be managing the groups…good luck Sharon – you may well need it.

Diddy wants to help Robbie Williams

Rap superstar Sean 'Diddy' Combs wants to help pop heart-throb Robbie Williams crack America, by recording a new track with him.

Despite spending most of his time in Los Angeles, Williams has never managed to win over US fans.

He recently claimed to have given up the quest to sell albums stateside, insisting his new album Rudebox wouldn't even be released there.

But Diddy is determined to give Williams a hope.

He says, "I reached out to Robbie to record a song with him. I love his whole vibe. Hopefully in the future I'll work with him and other UK artists."

Craig Russo Produces Robbie Williams

Craig Russo is one of the producers working with Robbie Williams on the forthcoming album ‘Rudebox’.

Russo and partner Brandon Christy produced the track ‘The Actor’ on the record.

“My partner, Brandon Christy is old friends with Jerry Meehan (the bass player in Rob's band)” Craig told Undercover News. “Jerry was in Los Angeles for a visit and invited Brandon to come hang out with him and Rob. Brandon and Rob hit it off and quickly became friends. Then, eventually Rob asked to hear some of our music. We sent him some and he loved it, so we got together and wrote a couple of tracks with him.”

The second song he says is still unfinished but they plan to collaborate again to complete the track soon. “We partially wrote a second song as well, which had to be put on hold when Rob left for his world tour” he says. “We are planning to get together and re-visit that when he returns in September. He has also said he wants to work on more music so who knows, maybe there will be others to come. We've got several tracks in the works and we're looking forward to getting back together with Rob when he returns from his tour”.

‘The Actor’ was recorded in LA. “We spent about 3 or 4 days writing and recording the song with Rob at his home studio in Los Angeles” he says. “In the studio he is like a well-tuned machine, so, it didn't take long to record his vocals. One of those nights we brought over the female vocalist, Marsha - whose spoken voice is featured in the verses - and recorded her. Then we took it back to our studio where we spent about two weeks in production and mixing. There were a few stages though, so we would go back in and tweak a few things, add things (e.g., backing vocals) etc. It all took place over the course of a month or so”.

After the Williams project, the Russo/Christy partnership looks busy for next year. “In addition to our film, TV and music production work, Brandon and I are producing music for a number of artists, most of which is due for release in 2007”.

Fans from around the world will remember Freddie Mercury today. The singer, from the British Rockband Queen, who died in 1991 from AIDS would have been 60 years old on the 5th of September.

Celebrity fans acknowledged him as one of the greatest performers of all time, in a documentary made for the ITV for the occasion.

Among others Robbie Williams: "I’m completely panto compared with his voice and him as an entertainer. His voice was like a machinegun. It hit everything perfectly”

He then adds: "Freddie, if you’re out there and you want to choose any artist to channel your work, please give me an album, or at least a middle eight”

Robbie Williams at Hampden Park, Glasgow

Exactly how must it feel to rise up through a catwalk amid dry ice and fireballs to be confronted by 55,000 people screaming your name? Magnified by the big screens around the stage, Robbie Williams’s eyes glistened and that lower lip wobbled visibly.

Composing himself for a euphoric brace of hits spanning the two sides of his career — Rock DJ and Tripping — Williams can’t have failed to notice his visage on the Caledonian flags that conferred honorary Scotsman status upon him. He bade the national football team good luck, and the ensuing roar reverberated into Monsoon and his 1999 chart-topper Millennium — songs that bore testament to his unfailing common touch.

It’s that populism that denies Williams the plaudits heaped upon more earnest artists. But if he is tormented by notions that he could be cooler, it didn’t show during a section in which he was joined by Professional Best Buddy Jonathan Wilkes, performing a forgettable Me & My Shadow.

To say it was cheesy is to add nothing to what we already know about Williams. But there was something startling about watching his journey back from the end-of-pier schtick into self-deconstructions such as Make Me Pure and Advertising Space. Assisted by Claire Worrall’s plaintive harmonies, the latter brought out his best performance of the evening.

At this stage of their careers, most pop stars have mastered the imperious gaze that suggests that all this adulation is the least they deserve. But Williams still has the air of a man who can’t believe his luck. Descending in a gondola for the encore, he sang Let Me Entertain You and Rudebox. One of these songs is nine years old, the other is only just out — but he tore into both as though it were the first time he had performed them.

With only one major hit now left unsung, it didn’t take a genius to deduce what was coming. Angels may have been no less expected than the thrashing administered by Scotland upon the Faroe Islands, but the sound of 55,000 voices echoing around Hampden still divined more tears from the singer. “Scotland, I love you,” he told them. The feeling was mutual.

Robbie's Vicious Lyrics

REMIND me never to get on the wrong side of ROBBIE WILLIAMS.

A song he has penned about his days in TAKE THAT is probably the most vicious I have ever heard.

On it he sings about wanting to gouge out the eyes of ex-manager NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH with a knife and attacks him for telling the Take That boys they had made no money from a European tour.

In the song, called The Nineties, you can almost hear Robbie spit as he sings about Martin-Smith: “Either you’re a thief or you’re s**t, which one will you admit to?

“Such an evil man, I used to fantasise about taking a Stanley knife and playing round with your eyes.

“I’m 16 and chubby,’ he tells me, ‘Lose 20 pounds, you’re not Rob, you’re Robbie, and if I see you with a girl, then you’ll be sorry.’ ”

I asked Robbie about the track when I interviewed him in Vienna and he told me he wanted an answer from Martin-Smith about why the band made no money from the European tour.

Robbie, whose single Rudebox is out today, told me: “When we’d finished touring and asked where the money was, he said, ‘You don’t make money in Europe, boys.’

“Well, I don’t understand. I’m doing this interview with you on tour in Europe, making money — doing very well, in fact. So either he’s a thief or a rubbish manager.”

In the track, which is on Robbie’s new album, Rudebox, he also points out how Martin-Smith’s favourite, GARY BARLOW, got special treatment from him and his bandmates JASON ORANGE, MARK OWEN and HOWARD DONALD.

He sings about how the group were a “band of brothers” but one was “more equal than others”, and says: “I’m thinking, ‘Why am I standing at the back?’ ”

With its hugely catchy chorus, the track is one of my favourites on the album — out on October 23.

Robbie has voiced his hatred of Martin-Smith before. In 1998’s Karma Killer he sang: “I hope you choke on your Bacardi and Coke” — Nigel’s favourite tipple.

Even so, on last November’s Take That documentary Nigel said: “Robbie has said all these things but I’ve no idea why he is upset with me.”

Well, now you know, Nigel — over to you . . .

Robbie beats Ticket Touts

THERE was no pay-day for touts hoping to flog stolen tickets for Robbie Williams' sell-out Scots shows.

Most of the 560 tickets that went missing in the post before reaching fans were unused at the gigs in Glasgow.

Police believe fans were put off buying tickets from unofficial sources because of the publicity surrounding the missing briefs for the sell-out shows at Hampden Park last night and Friday.

A Ticketmaster spokesman said: "We have opened an investigation. Whether it will go to legal action is not something I can comment on at the moment.

"We are speaking to eBay to try to cancel all the accounts selling Robbie Williams tickets for his shows in Glasgow. We will be using this as a starting point in our investigation."

The missing tickets had been bought legitimately by Robbie fans in Falkirk and Dunfermline.

Officers set up a special operation to search fans. However, none of the stolen briefs were recovered.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: "It is not clear if these tickets were ever in the Royal Mail system.

"Anyone who did not receive tickets should contact Ticketmaster."

More than 110,000 fans watched Robbie perform at the national stadium.

The singer was at his cheeky best as he teased his female followers by unbuttoning his trousers and ripping off his T-shirt.

The loudest cheer of the night came when he revealed he was wearing a Scotland football shirt under his top.

Robbie signs up for X Factor

Robbie Williams, Elton John and Westlife have been signed up to coach the X Factor finalists.

Judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne struck a secret deal to recruit the famous names to the Saturday night show.

Heart-throb Robbie, a huge X Factor fan, will coach the 16-25s. Legend Elton John - whose first hit was way back in 1971 - will advise the over 25s.

And Irish band Westlife, who are managed by Louis, will pass on tips to the groups. The stars will join when the show goes live next month.

An insider said: "Simon said he wanted this series to be the biggest and best yet. This is a massive coup."

Other stars who will make guest appearances on the ITV1 talent search include Robbie's former band Take That, American singer Mariah Carey and Simon's group Il Divo.

The Sunday Mirror can also reveal who each judge will look after - Simon will handle the 16- to 25-year-olds, Louis will take the over-25s and Sharon will take care of the groups.

Our source said: "The judges all pretend to take it lightly, but the truth is they are all desperate to win."

- LAST year's X Factor winner Shayne Ward has had surgery to remove nodules from his throat at a clinic in Los Angeles.

He has been told not to talk for two weeks as he recovers.

Williams' stadium magic returns

Amid the scandal of stolen tickets and speculation about quitting the music business, Robbie Williams brought his Close Encounters tour to the UK.

At the first of two shows at Glasgow's Hampden Park, he declared himself "home" and was taken aback by the reaction to his performance, which saw the zealous Scottish audience eating out of his hand.

Thousands of frantic devotees flocking to use public transport found it a challenge to make it to the gig, but it was clearly worth the wait.

A massive, complex set contained a winding walkway and a revolving stage into the crowd.

Add in fireworks and a hanging gondola, and the concert could have turned into a bit of a circus.

But it simply came down to Robbie the showman. He comfortably commanded the stage and captivated his audience throughout.

Dressed in a black coat, red silk scarf and jeans with a vest that he swiftly ripped off, he was suave with his trademark cheeky charm.

He touched on the recent controversy surrounding Keith Richards' flouting of the smoking ban at Hampden, promising to get into trouble himself, but didn't appear to risk it.

Robbie's gigs meant that Scotland's match against the Faroe Islands was displaced from the National Stadium, but he told Scotland to "go to Italy and batter them, then go to France and batter them, then we'll see you in the European Cup!"

Despite having already played over 30 dates on this tour, he was visibly shocked by the audience's reaction after just a couple of songs.

"These things in my ears are playing the band to me. When I came up here tonight, for the first time in my life, I couldn't hear anything."

Cue further deafening screams.

It was no surprise that recent reformation of Take That came up, and he admitted he'd thought about joining them as everyone was telling him to.

"But then I thought I've sold three million tickets for my own tour," and that was that.

He paid homage to them though with a rare and sincere performance of Back For Good.

New electro-rap single Rudebox may not have been well received by the critics, but it seems he can do no wrong - it must be creeping into the nation's consciousness as it did nothing to dampen spirits.

A twee duet of My Shadow and Me with best friend Jonathan Wilkes would have looked at home at a Royal Variety Performance, but their relaxed banter and nonsense pleased fans.

He was wise enough not to try out any unheard songs from his forthcoming album, instead sticking to his anthemic pop classics Let Me Entertain You, Millennium and Angels.

They were the obvious hits and, while the fans went wild, Robbie himself appeared to be emotional.

Ending with Kids, he proclaimed: "Scotland, you're in a league of your own. I love you and always will. See you next time."

It sounds like he's not hanging up his mic just yet.

DOC 'N' ROLLER ROBBIE

ROBBIE Williams last night told his packed Scottish show he needed a doctor before going on stage.

The former Take That singer explained to his cheering fans the lengths he'd gone to just to performat Glasgow's Hampden Park.

He said: "I woke up this morning in my bedroom alone and I got out of bed and into the bathroom and thought, 'F*****g hell. I feel like s**t'.

"I called the doctor, who took my temperature and said, 'Tonight, you won't be able to performon stage'.

"I asked if there might be some alternative and he told me to turn around.

"I took a needle in my a**e this big," he said, and gestured about a foot long.

"I am proud to say I took it in the a**e for Scotland."

The 55,000-strong Hampden crowd was treated to a master class in showmanship.

His female fans screamed throughout the concert as he sang hits including Rock DJ, the reggae-inspired Tripping and Take That's Back For Good.

He was later joined on stage by actor and TV host Jonathan Wilkes, who sang a duet with his best mate.

Robbie, 32, also backed the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards after he was criticised for smoking during a gig at Hampden Park.

He said: "I hear the Rolling Stones got into trouble for smoking on stage.

"Well, I'm going to get me in some trouble tonight. You can't have a go at Keith Richards for smoking - he's over 150 years old."

Hundreds of fans had spent Thursday night camped outside the stadium to be first in the queue when the doors opened.

Robbie Mania hits Scotland

ROBBIE Williams mania hit Scotland last night as the singer played the first of two sell-out gigs at Hampden Park.

Hundreds spent Thursday night camped outside the stadium in Glasgow to be at the front of the queue when the doors opened yesterday.

And while a team of technicians were putting together the set for the spectacular show, Robbie, 32, was enjoying a leisurely stroll round the grounds of his exclusive hotel 15 miles away.

The ex-Take That singer has already played packed stadiums in Europe as part of his Close Encounters tour.

The next leg will see him play gigs in Dubai, Hong Kong and Shanghai. But last night, it was the 55,000-strong Hampden crowd's turn to be treated to a master class in showmanship.

Staff at the stadium were in position from early morning and the huge lighting and stage rig was set up for the spectacle.

One fan had even come all the way from Australia for the gig.

Jackie Hunt, from Adelaide, said: "I love Robbie and am pretty obsessed with him.

"I've got tickets to the Milton Keynes and Leeds gigs too because I thought Robbie wasn't playing Australia.

"When I found out he was coming to Adelaide, I bought tickets for that too."

Fans Lynsey McMullen and Victoria Hendrie, from Dunbar, East Lothian, were flying the flag for Scotland at the event. Lynsey, 20, said: "Robbie has already had our flag on stage twice before so we're hoping it'll be third time lucky."

Pal Victoria, 21, said: "We got here at 10:30am to make sure we get to the front."

Karen Lister and her sister Nicola had queued overnight with friend Sue Thourghgood. The trio from Fife had never seen Robbie live before.

And Cat McKay, Sarah and Kylie Hourston, Heather Mackenzie and Kendal Korhonan posed in their specially made Robbie Rock Your Socks Off T-shirts.

Light showers didn't dampen spirits and the pre-gig atmosphere reached fever pitch as supporting acts Orson and Basement Jaxx sound-checked.

Heavy basslines filled the air as the bands tuned up just one hour before the gates opened.

Williams gives up on American dream

Robbie Williams has declared that his new album will not be released in America, admitting that he has giving up on the idea of achieving success there.

The singer moved to Los Angeles five years ago in the hope of extending his appeal across the pond, but struggled to attain a fraction of the popularity he enjoys in Britain.

Speaking to Johnny Vaughan on his Capital FM radio show, the star decided to be realistic about the situation and revealed that his new record Rudebox will not appear in US stores.

He said: "They're not having it, I'm not releasing it there. The only way an album of mine is going to be in the States is if I leave it there or leave it in Tower Records. I'll go with a bunch and just leave them."

Robbie arrives in Scotland

Robbie Williams was keeping a low profile when he arrived in Scotland last night to prepare for two sell-out shows at Hampden.

The Rock DJ star was hiding under a blue baseball cap when he arrived at his luxury country house hotel on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Robbie and his entourage, including seven security guards, swept into the grounds in a fleet of silver people carriers with blacked-out windows.

He was then rushed through reception to his massive suite.

Best friend Jonathan Wilkes wasn't quite so shy, however, as he leaned out of the window of his room to admire the surroundings.

"Hi, what a beautiful view," he shouted at me.

I think he was talking about the countryside.

Jonathan, dressed in a white T-shirt and pink tank top, then went back inside to enjoy the food and drink that the hotel had laid on especially for Robbie and his close friends.

Massive platters of fruit were prepared in the kitchen for the singer, who quit drink and drugs a few years ago. Staff also filled the hotel's reception with lillies and candles to make sure they had created the right ambience for the arrival of the Robster.

Williams' 'addiction' to anti-depressants

Robbie Williams believes his body is addicted to anti-depressants.

The Feel singer confessed to being addicted to the drugs last year and unsuccessfully tried to wean himself off them in recent months.

He says, "I did actually try coming off them earlier this year, but I think my body might just be addicted to the medication, which is a shame."

Robbie Williams stolen gig ticket probe

Hundreds of Robbie Williams fans could be turned away from his gigs in Glasgow because they have bought stolen tickets.

Police are warning 560 passes have been cancelled for tonight and tomorrow's concerts.

It comes after fans did not receive tickets they had purchased from Ticketmaster and police believe these are likely to have been sold on to unsuspecting and innocent fans.

Anyone turning up to the Hampden Park gigs with one of the stolen tickets will be quizzed by police.

Chief Superintendent Robin Howe said: It is likely that the tickets have been sold on to unsuspecting fans who will be hugely disappointed as these tickets have been withdrawn."

"More than 55,000 fans are expected at the National Stadium for each gig.

Hawley has no regrets over Robbie offer

Richard Hawley has insisted he does not regret turning down an offer to write songs for Robbie Williams.

The Mercury Music Prize nominee feels the move would have been a step in the wrong direction, although he admits the financial benefits would have been great.

He says: "It's a different world all that. It would have been like winning the lottery. But it would also have been like taking whatever scant wisdom I've developed in this short life and throwing it away."
